I have been putting alot of thought into the direction I would like my life to go lately, and what I might want to do with my remaining years on this planet. I guess after a certain amount of time, everyone starts to try to see the bigger picture...to try to see the path they were meant to take. I find myself at that point recently, and it has instigated many ideas that I am very eager to explore. The first of which is trying to measure my worth as a photographer.
I am not someone who measures value in monetary means necessarily, I feel as though to focus on such a small portion of the enriching aspects of life would be to diminish existence itself. But, as we all must do in this world...I have to worry about money from time to time. And that has lead me to try to find a way to capitalize on my passions as much as possible, while at the same time attempting to get my images on the walls of as many people as possible...while being as transparent and honest as possible. I like fairness.
So, after much though and after talking to a new printer and discussing his costs, I decided to adopt a "Pay Whatever You Want As Long As You Cover My Costs" Business Model, which I officially announced yesterday. It basically works like this: if you want a print, I will send you my printer's pricelist where you can see exactly how much whatever print you want will cost to print. From that point you can choose to pay more than that if you'd like, knowing exactly how much I, the artist, am getting for this sale. You choose how much I get. That's it.
So far, I am very happy with the results and it seems as though this may be a good business model for me and the way I look at the world and want to live in it. If you didn't check out yesterday's blog please do. I talk about this a little bit more in that post...
So, I am kind of leaving it up to Fate and all that...I need to see whether my work has value enough for me to live a simple, yet fulfilling life of spreading the beauty I see all around us. I really just want to live a life I can be proud of, knowing that I am making my way on my own terms, but also with the acceptance of the people around me. Artists, who try to support themselves with their work, in a way, very much need the public to allow them to do so..it is the public that dictates these things and get to decide. No artist can just brute-force his way into being accepted as one by the public...
So...let's see how this all pans out...
So, to recap....any image I post online from this moment on is available for sale under this business model...including the images in this post. So...see one you like? Here is exactly how much it might cost you to print (Artist 'Tip' totally up to you)
